University Of Washington engineers have created a new wireless communication System that allows devices to interact with each other without relying on batteries or wires for power. Using ambient backscatter devices can interact with each other and communicate with users without batteries they exchange information by pre-existing radio signals from TV and cellular transmissions. Next Generation Optical Disk: 300GB Capacity

Sony Corporation and Panasonic Corporation had signed a basic agreement with objective of jointly developing a new generation optical disk of atleast 300GB capacity by 2015. Sony previously commercialized a file-based optical disc archive system in September, 2012. Based on optical disc technology that Sony cultivated for its XDCAM series of professional broadcasting products, this system houses twelve optical discs within a compact cartridge as a single, high-capacity storage solution. Each disc within the cartridge holds 25GB capacity, offering a total range of storage capacities from 300GB to 1.5TB. Panasonic launched its ‘LB-DM9 series’ of optical disc storage devices. This series uses a dedicated magazine of just 20.8mm thickness to house twelve 100GB optical discs. A maximum of 90 magazines can be stored, providing a total storage capacity of 180TB. 5G: ROLL OUT COULD BE BY 2020

The words from  Wen Tong, head of the 5G mission at  Huawei Technologies , the Chinese telco declared that world would completely roll out with 5G by 2020.  The idea is to increase the thru-put by 1,000 times with 1,000 times more spectrum and 1,000 times reduced energy. A group of telecom firms such as Huawei ,  Ericsson  and  Samsung  have started groundwork on 5G. "This is one of the top priority areas for us. We started work on this in 2009. The standards for 5G will be out in 2015 and rollout could be 2020. We will lead the 5G revolution," he said. Huawei started work on 5G in 2009 and has already deployed 200 engineers on the R&D work. Few major telecom firms Huawei, Ericsson and Samsung have started foundation work on 5G.
